 Northville Stallions

The Northville Stallions are one of twelve teams that make up the Western Lakes Junior Football League (WLJFL), as well as teams from Livonia, Garden City, Northville, Novi, Walled Lake and Rochester. The Northville Stallions were formed in 2007 out of expansion of the Northville Colts to serve the growing demand for youth football in Northville.  In 2012, the Stallions will have a flag football team, and three tackle football teams (Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity).  Teams are made up of players according to age; with August 1st being the cut off. For example, if a player turns 15 on August 1st, they are eligible to play. If a player turns 15 on July 31st, they are not eligible to play.

The age and weight guidelines are:

  • Flag:              6 & 7 year olds - no weight guidelines.
  • Freshman:         8 & 9 year olds up to 125 lbs
  • Junior Varsity:     10 & 11 year olds up to150 lbs
  • Varsity:        12 & 13 year olds up to 175 lbs, and 14 year olds up to 135 lbs

Players are allowed to exceed the weight guidelines by 5 lb at each level, but are limited to a maximum of 5 plays per half.  Players that exceed the maximum weight allowances may be allowed to play up to the next level, if available, at the discretion of the NYFA, but 14 year olds greater than 135 lbs are not eligible to play.

The intent of the Stallion organization is to instruct and develop our youth athletes in a positive manor within a safe environment.  The Stallion organization strives to maintain a staff of coaches and volunteers who possess the ability to motivate and inspire, and who take responsibility for the full development of the student-athletes within their charge as students, athletes and persons.
