Parent Volunteers
Volunteers are critical to the success of our program. Failure to comply with your volunteer commitment will cause your veteran player status to be relinquished in future seasons and will impact your child’s ability to participate. It is mandatory that at least one parent volunteer per registered player during the season. Each family will choose what duties they would like to volunteer for during the online registraiton process.
These duties include:
Game Day Duties
- Chain Gang - The chain gang consists of 3 people. There are two people who control the 10-yard chain for the referees. There is a third person who holds the down marker. You will stand on the sidelines and move up and down the field with the chain as directed by the refs.
- Field Spotter - The field spotters track the number of plays each player participates in for each half.
- Action Photographer – The photographer is responsible for taking pictures of the players, cheerleaders, and fans during the entire game (digital SLR camera required). This job also includes uploading the pictures to the team website.
- Media Writer - The media writer records highlights during the game and then writes an article for the Sports section of the Northville Record. These articles are due to the General Manager via email Sunday evening.
- Announcer - The announcer's job is to tell everyone what is happening during the game (home games only). The announcer sits in the booth at the top of the home team stands. The announcer also introduces the players and coaches before the game starts and announces the 50/50 winner during halftime.
- Booth Spotter - The booth spotter helps the announcer by identifying which players are in on the play (home games only).
- Game Clock - This person stops and starts the clock when signaled by the ref, and changes the scoreboard when needed.
- Water and Cups - This person is responsible for bringing the large water cooler and filled water bottles to the game, as well as provide small paper or plastic cups for the boys to use. At half time, you will need to check the water cooler and take it to the concession stand, if necessary, to refill it. The water must be in place for warm-ups.
- Half-time Fruit - This person is responsible for bringing individualized fruit for all players on the team to have during half-time (e.g., bananas, oranges cut in quarters and bagged, grapes bagged in bunches, etc.)
- Spiritwear Sales - Assist in selling items at home games.
- 50/50 Raffle - Assist in selling tickets at home games.
Other Volunteer Positions
- Equipment Handout - Assist equipment manager at the beginning of the season with the distribution of football equipment/uniforms for all teams. This may include set-up before handout.
- Tailgate at NHS Homecoming Committee – Assist with set-up, crowd control and clean up.
- NYFA Homecoming Committee - Specific details on these activities will be advised prior to homecoming events.
- Banquet Committee - Assist with set-up, decorating, check-in and clean-up at the end of season banquet.
- Equipment Return - Assist equipment manager at the end of the season with the collection and return of football equipment for all teams. This may include equipment loading after collection.
- Cheerfest Coordinator - Organize and assit in getting ready for cheerfest.
